Composite Fillings
Thanks to advances in dental materials, fillings no longer have to look unnatural. Older metal fillings are being replaced by composite filling that can be matched to the natural color of your teeth. Treating cavities no longer has to mean unsightly metal in your teeth. Modern dentistry has increasingly turned to composite fillings as a strong, long-lasting, safe and more natural looking alternative. These materials have completely replaced the use of metal fillings in our practice due to the tremendous advantages they provide for our patients.
Composite Bonding
Bonding is an ideal solution for eliminating chips, gaps between teeth, and discoloration, especially of front teeth. Composite bonding uses an enamel- like tooth-colored material which is sculpted and hardened to repair your teeth without necessitating the removal of any of your natural tooth structure. A quick and highly effective procedure, bonding can help enhance your self-confidence and create a flawless smile you never thought was possible.
Children’s Dentistry
We provide general dentistry and preventive dentistry to children. Regular cleanings and fluoride treatments with our hygienists are great ways to prevent early tooth decay. Preventive dental sealants can be bonded onto the grooves of the chewing surfaces of baby molars and permanent six year molars to prevent tooth decay from starting.
Invisalign® Orthodontics
Invisalign® is the invisible way to straighten teeth without brackets, wires and braces. No one can tell you are wearing them as your teeth “magically straighten.” Our doctors are certified Invisalign® trained and have helped adults and teens achieve beautiful smiles in as little as 4 to 12 months. You can have straighter teeth today! Call for a Complimentary consultation.
Veneers
For a beautiful smile, few procedures offer as outstanding results as that of veneers. Pressed Ceramic veneers can correct a wide range of problems, including cracks, gaps, chips, stains, and crowding. Veneers are custom-made of a pressed porcelain material to match your natural tooth shade or a brighter, youthful shade to match the results you desire. The thin pressed ceramic facing is bonded onto the front of teeth, providing strength and giving you the kind of smile you have always dreamed of having. Pressed ceramic is now the material of choice instead of porcelain due to its esthetic appearance and wear characteristics on opposing natural teeth. Strong and long-lasting, veneers are sometimes called “instant orthodontics,” because they can create a straight, perfect smile in just two appointments.
Tooth Whitening
Whiter teeth are something almost everyone would like. Over time, teeth naturally yellow. This is due in part to aging and in part because of dark-colored foods and drinks that stain the teeth. Tooth whitening is a highly effective procedure that can lighten the teeth by several shades, enhancing a person’s entire facial appearance. There are two methods of professional tooth whitening — an at-home version and an in-office one. The at-home method uses custom-fit, comfortable mouth trays that are filled with a whitening gel and worn for one to several hours at a time. The mouth trays hold a mild solution. The main ingredient of the solution is carbamide peroxide, a substance that reacts with water to release a non-toxic whitening, not bleaching, element (hydrogen peroxide). The mouth trays need to be used over several weeks for accurate results. The in-office procedure can be done in about an hour. This treatment involves coating the teeth with a form of carbamide peroxide gel. A light activates the gel and the tooth enamel takes on a whiter appearance immediately. For continued optimal whitening, it is recommended that the take home mouth tray be used in conjunction with the in-office process. Whichever method you are interested in, Dr. Summers can help you achieve beautiful results.
Bridges
Missing teeth can create a variety of problems both aesthetic and functional, but bridges can be used to restore health and beauty to your smile. A bridge consists of a replacement tooth and two crowns that can be fitted over the adjacent teeth. Bridges can prevent teeth from drifting out of position and improve the appearance of your smile as well as maintain a healthy bite.
Crowns
Damaged and decayed teeth can be effectively restored with tooth-colored crowns. A crown is a permanent covering that fits over your original tooth, restoring health, esthetics, and strength. We use crowns matched to your natural tooth color, which improve your smile’s appearance as well as your dental health. Crowns can be used to whiten, reshape, and realign teeth as well as to repair damage. For the esthetically minded, we provide all porcelain crowns as a great alternative to the traditional porcelain fused to metal crowns.
Implants
For individuals who wish to replace missing teeth, dental implants crowns may be an effective long-term solution. Implant crowns provide greater structural support. Implants serve as the artificial root to which new implant crowns would be connected.
Inlays/On lays
Inlays and onlays are two types of porcelain restorations used in back teeth. Inlays fill cavities, restoring strength and stability to damaged teeth. They are custom fabricated by a lab to a precise fit and have a very realistic appearance. Onlays cover the entire surface of the damaged tooth; they are used when a tooth is too decayed or broken down for regular fillings or inlays.
Complete & Partial Dentures
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and adjacent tissues. It is made of acrylic resin, sometimes in combination with various metals. Complete dentures replace all the teeth, while a partial denture fills in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevents other teeth from changing position. Complete dentures are either “conventional” or “immediate.” A conventional denture is placed in the mouth about a month after all the teeth are removed to allow for proper healing, whereas an immediate denture is placed as soon as the teeth are removed. The drawback behind an immediate denture is that it may require more adjustments after the healing has taken place. Candidates for complete dentures have lost most or all of their teeth. A partial denture is suitable for those who have some natural teeth remaining. A denture improves chewing ability and speech, and provides support for facial muscles. It will greatly enhance the facial appearance and smile.
